Cheap places: For the Win – Our favourite affordable places to visit in Toronto

The weekend is the best couple of days in the week for us because I don’t have to go to work and Thong doesn’t have to go to school. We want to make the most of our time together because during the weekdays, the only time that we can see each other is the 30 mins in the morning after we wake up and the four hours at nights before we go to bed.

Every Friday night before going to bed, we try to think of places to go the next morning. As I have said previously in most of my posts, Thong is always the person that finds the place. 🙂 We have our favourite places that we come back back to every time we don’t know where to go.

Now I really want to share with everyone, especially those who live in Toronto, as well as those who are planning to visit Toronto, about our favourite places, as well as some tips for you if you have a chance to visit these places.

For the Win Cafe:

This is a board game cafe where you can find tons of board game from simple causal games to complicated games that require a bunch of time to setup. From 2 players games to up to 8 players games, from games for children to games for adults. We found this place thanks to Yelp. This place is open 7 days a week. It’s located on Yonge & Lawrence, at 3216 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M4N 2L2. If you drive, you have to pay for street parking, but if you go onto the side streets, you’ll find free parking on the weekends, and if you go even further, you’ll find a place to park on the weekdays.

Free parking on the weekends, but only 1 hour parking on weekdays.

If you go on a weekday, you’ll need to go a bit further.

Where we parked, because we didn’t notice the “1 Hour” parking limitation only applies on weekdays, until after.

We felt lost in front of the large amount of board games

It’s only $5 for an unlimited amount of time to enjoy the entire library of games or $2.50 for a quick visit. Moreover, you don’t have to order anything during your visit.

The first time we went here was a year ago. After having our breakfast at IKEA, we got there at 12 PM when they just opened, so we were their first customers of that day. As our first time here, we were very intimidated and shy. We were so confused and lost in front of the large amount of games. Therefore we asked for recommendations from the owner and he suggested us some 2-player games: Sushi Go, Pentago, Quoridor, and Blokus … which are very fun and it didn’t take us much time to figure how to play each game.

The menu is really varied since they have coffee, latte, mocha, tea, herbal tea, bubble tea, juice, and ice slush. They also serve some sandwiches and snacks.

We both ordered lattes and they looked very eye-catching and yummy

The fourth time my husband and I visited here, we tried some new 2-player game which were: Agricola, Hive, and 7 Wonders. With the Agricola, it took us like half an hour to figure out how to play it. However, the owner is very friendly and useful to answer our questions of this game. One of the cool thing here is after playing, you can take some funny pictures at their Selfie station and we can even buy some games to take home and play too.

I really recommend this place to anyone that likes having fun and boardgames.
